The Friction Stir Welding Utility menu lists options to import models into HyperMesh, create weld mesh, select and assign material properties, define and apply boundary conditions, define process conditions, and export data files to HyperXtrude. Options in the Utility menu fall into two categories:
• | shortcuts to native HyperMesh panels |
• | TK popup menus. |
Utils: |
Clear Temp Nodes |
Clear temporary nodes |
Model Setup Tools: |
Create Mesh |
Create the model, assign materials, boundary conditions, and process parameters through a wizard. |
Select Units |
Choose the units used in modeling the problem |
Material Data |
Select materials from a material database and assign material properties to components. View viscosity/flow stress graphs for materials. |
Boundary Conditions |
Inspect/Setup BCs |
View and assign boundary conditions on element faces. |
Check Undefined BC |
Identify external faces without loads. |
Check Duplicate BC |
Identify duplicate loads. |
Process Data |
Parameters |
Specify process control parameters. |
Extract Points |
Define solution-monitoring points. The HyperXtrude solver prints detailed solution history at these monitoring points. |
Model Summary |
Inspect summary data such as number of elements and loads. |
Export Data |
Export/Launch Solver |
Start the HyperXtrude solver using the current model, an existing data deck, or a restart file. |
