Base Models

A base model defines the physical collision between particle materials or particles and geometries, typically the base model consists of spring forces and damping forces in the normal and tangential directions.  Only one base model can be added per simulation. There are different physics models available for Multi-Sphere/Sphero-Cylinder and Polyhedral simulations.  For simulations using a custom API contact model the "No Base Model" in the Base Model list.

The following models can be added to a simulation as a Base Model.

Multi-Sphere and Sphero-Cylinder

  1. Hertz-Mindlin (no slip)
  2. Hertz-Mindlin with JKR
  3. Hertz-Mindlin with JKR V2
  4. Hysteretic Spring
  5. Linear Spring
  6. Edinburgh Elasto-Plastic Adhesion Model (EEPA)

Polyhedral

  1. Hertz-Mindlin Nassauer-Kuna (Polyhedral)
  2. Hertz-Mindlin Effective (Polyhedral)
  3. Volume Spring Model (Polyhedral)
