Configurations of use

Single local node

The single local node use consists in allocating Flux computations on a single machine. It is strongly recommended that this machine is multiprocessor and has good performances. The figure below presents an overview of a single local node installation. The client software (Flux) as well as CDE are installed on the Machine P. CDE should also be configured on the Machine P.

Multiple nodes

The multiple nodes use consists in allocating Flux computations over several machines which could be multi processor. The figure below presents an overview of a multiple nodes installation. We distinguish the Machine M, the master node* and the cluster nodes. The client software (Flux) is installed on the Machine M, CDE could also be installed on the Machine M in order to use the manager for the supervision of the computations. CDE should mandatory be installed on the master node, and Flux should mandatory be installed on all the cluster nodes.

Note: *Master node:

The cluster node onto which the distribution server will be run is conventionally called the master node.
