Comments
- Fields 3, 4, and so on, of this entry correspond, field-by-field, to fields 3, 4, and so on, of the MAT1 entry referenced in field 2. The value in a particular field of the MAT1 entry is replaced (if TABLEM1 or TABLEG is used) or modified (if TABLEM2/3/4 is used) by the table referenced in the corresponding field of this entry. In the example shown, E is modified; TABLEMi 32, A is modified by TABLEMi 15; and ST is modified by TABLEMi 52. Blank or zero entries mean that there is no temperature dependence of the field on the MAT1 entry.
- The MATT1 entries may refer to blank entries on the respective MAT1 card. In this case, they will be applied to default values of respective parameters. Initial values of E, G, or NU will be supplied according to Comment 4 on the MAT1 entry.
- In
general, it is recommended to provide table references for each item that is temperature
dependent. The following tables summarize the resolution undertaken in cases when either
of E, G or NU variations are not
defined in the MATT1 entry.
Table 1. Rod Elements T(E) T(G) T(NU) Resolution x √ √ - Constant E is used from MAT1.
- G is looked up from the table.
- NU is not considered.
√ x √ - E is looked up from the table.
- Constant G is used from MAT1.
- NU is not considered.
√ √ x - E and G are looked up from their respective tables.
- NU is not considered.
x x √ - Constant E and G are used from MAT1.
- NU is not considered.
√ : Defined in MATT1
x : Not defined in MATT1
Table 2. Bar Elements T(E) T(G) T(NU) Resolution x √ √ - Constant E is used from MAT1.
- G is looked up from the table.
Note: If G < 1E-6, then E and NU (from table) are used to calculate G.√ x √ - E is looked up from the table.
- Constant G is used from MAT1.
Note: If G < 1E-6, then E and NU (from table) are used to calculate G.√ √ x - Constant NU is used from MAT1.
x x √ - Constant E and G are used from MAT1
Note: If G < 1E-6, then E and NU (from table) are used to calculate G.√ : Defined in MATT1
x : Not defined in MATT1
Table 3. Shell Elements T(E) T(G) T(NU) Resolution x √ √ - For Membrane, Bending and their coupling components, G is calculated using E (from MAT1) and NU (from table).
- For transverse shear component, G is looked up from the table.
√ x √ - For Membrane, Bending and their coupling components, G is calculated using E and NU from their respective tables.
- For transverse shear component,
- If MID3 is specified in PSHELL, constant G is used from MAT1
- Else, it is 100 times the maximum value of G calculated for membrane and bending part.
√ √ x - Constant NU is used from MAT1.
x x √ - For Membrane, Bending and their coupling components, G is calculated using E (from MAT1) and NU (from table).
- For transverse shear component,
- If MID3 is specified in PSHELL, constant G is used from MAT1.
- Else, it is 100 times the maximum value of G calculated for membrane and bending part.
√ : Defined in MATT1
x : Not defined in MATT1
Table 4. Solid Elements T(E) T(G) T(NU) Resolution x √ √ - Constant E is used from MAT1.
- NU is looked up from the table.
- E and NU (from table) are used to calculate G.
√ x √ - E and NU are looked up from their respective tables.
- The values of E and NU are used to calculate G.
- In this case, G from MAT1 has no effect.
√ √ x - Constant NU is used from MAT1.
x x √ - Constant E is used from MAT1.
- NU is looked up from the table.
- E and NU (from table) are used to calculate G.
√ : Defined in MATT1
x : Not defined in MATT1
- The TEMPERATURE Subcase Information Entry (with type=MATERIAL) is required to activate temperature-dependent material behavior and to define the temperature field (option=SID of TEMP, TEMPD or the SUBCASE ID of a thermal analysis subcase).
- With TABLEM1 or TABLEG, the respective field on MAT1 will be replaced by the table data on MATT1. With TABLEM2/3/4, the respective field of MAT1 will be modified by the table data.
- This card is represented as a material in HyperMesh.
