About Index Values

While an index field is a particular field within a document, an index value (also called keyword value) is a specific value of an index field. For example, Q197-4112 could be an index value for the Purchase Order Number index field, and 123-45-6789 could be an index value for the Social Security Number index field.

When configuring a simple , advanced search or report search, only index fields assigned to the specified document type are available. The system administrator selects index fields to assign to the document type, when adding a document type to the system.
