Optional output of frozen OSM geometry
ultraFluidX 2022.1 offers the option to request “frozen geometry” output for surfaces inside Overset Mesh regions (OSM). The frozen output combines the geometry inside the OSM at its initial state with the associated transient data. This facilitates the creation of dB maps for rotating geometries and advanced other data processing. The new output is available for the default ultraFluidX surface data and for each partial surface instance, and it is activated by default if ultraFluidX is run in “fan noise” mode. Additional _frozenGeometry.geo, _frozenGeometry.case, and _frozenGeometry.sos files are created. The .data files are reused from the rotating (non-frozen) geometry output.
Sub-iteration output for all output options
ultraFluidX 2022.1 supports sub-iteration output for all available output options and all available output variables. The sub-iteration output is activated by setting the <output_frequency> of the respective output to a value below 1.0. The output of sub-iteration information was already available for partial surface/volume output and probes. It was automatically deactivated when the output of time- or window-averaged quantities was requested. With version 2022.1, all available ultraFluidX output options support sub-iteration output. Sub-iteration output can also be requested for time- and window-averaged quantities.
Merge output files on machines without GPUs
ultraFluidX 2022.1 offers the option to merge result files on non-GPU nodes. The files can be merged using the standard ultraFluidX executable and the -merge command line option. The presence of GPUs is only required if a simulation is started.

Resolved Issues

  • The compatibility of the seeding feature, that was updated in ultraFluidX 2022.0.1, with EnSight files from versions 2022.0 and earlier has been re-established.
