Altair HyperLife Weld Certification 2022.3 Release Notes

New Features

Random Response Fatigue based on IEC specification
Random response fatigue workflow specified by IEC which is intended for railway vehicle industry, has been implemented in HyperLife. With this release, only shell element models for welded and unwelded structures are supported.
Static Evaluation Support with FKM Regulation for Unwelded Parts
Static evaluation with FKM regulation for unwelded parts was available before with limited support on Windows. With this release, this is tested and validated for both Windows and Linux.

Resolved Issues

  • The issue with stress amplitude being reported incorrectly in reports with Large Ansys models has been resolved.
  • The issue with performance during stress query has been resolved.
  • With EUROCODE regulation, resultant output and cumulative resultant output equations have been rectified and updated.
  • The issue with missing data in Text Output has been resolved.
  • The issue with missing Tensor components for FKM unwelded parts evaluation has been resolved.

Known Issues

  • There is a known issue in the Load Map tool when the subcase is sorted before applying the scale factors. The input scale factors are then taken incorrectly. This is not an issue if the scale factor is applied before sorting the subcase. This inconsistent behavior will be fixed in the upcoming release.
  • There is a known issue with derived subcases created in the Loadcase tool not being available in the Load Map tool. This issue will be addressed and resolved in the upcoming release.
  • With FKM regulation, the combined report for Welded and Unwelded is incorrect and inconsistent when reports are generated separately for Welds and Unwelded. This issue will be resolved in the upcoming release.
  • There is a known issue with second order tetrahedral element models not being detected by the tool. This issue is being investigated and fixed in the upcoming release.

Altair HyperLife Weld Certification 2022.2 Release Notes

Enhancements

Abaqus ODB Auto Upgrade
Abaqus results file are upgraded on import in HyperLife without warranting any user intervention.

Resolved Issues

  • The issue with View Report showing zero damage for SN workflow is resolved.
  • The issue with Weld detection on second order solid models has been resolved.

Altair HyperLife Weld Certification 2022.1 Release Notes

New Features

ERRI B12 RP60
The rail industry regulation ERRI B12 RP60 to determine the permissible fatigue limit is implemented with this release. HyperLife Weld Certification calculates Margin of Safety using Haigh Diagram or SN curve.
SN analysis Workflow for Nodal Solution: Un-welded Solids and Shells
SN analysis workflow is now supported on HyperLife Weld Certification for nodal solutions for both un-welded solids and shell models.
Multi Curve for Material Model in SN and ERRI B12 RP60 Workflow
SN Mean Multi-curve: The material tool is enhanced to input material curves for multiple mean-stress values as manual entry and table import. You can input stress as Stress-Amplitude, Stress-Range or Max stress. The input curves can be slope-intercept or XY data format.
SN R-ratio Multi-curve: The material tool is enhanced to input material curves for multiple stress ratios(R) as manual entry and table import. You can input stress as Stress-Amplitude, Stress-Range or Max stress. The input curves can be slope-intercept or XY data format.
SN Haigh Multi-curve: The material tool is enhanced to input material curves for representing multi Haigh diagrams as manual entry and table import. You can input stress as Stress-Amplitude, Stress-Range or Max stress. XY data format is supported to input Haigh diagram.
Weld Templates for SN and ERRI B12 RP60 Workflow
Weld templates are supported which assist with auto assigning predefined materials to welds for assessment.
Selection of Load Increments for Loadcase Comparison Method
In case of FEA result files with load incremental result output, options are provided on the Loadmap tool to select the load increment of choice while creating events.

Enhancements

  • For the FKM guideline, the default value of Normal Cycles at knee point (Nd_Normal) is set to 5e+06.
  • With the FKM guideline static assessment, the result type Stress Ratio is renamed as Static Utilization which is consistent with FKM terminology.
  • Certain parameters for butt weld with DVS (Groove Gap, Depth and Angle) that were missing are now available.

Resolved Issues

  • The stress combination: Tensor Components for FKM unwelded fatigue evaluation is hidden and unavailable for this release.
  • Auto ODB upgrade is unavailable with HyperLife Weld Certification version 2022.1. Currently you are notified with a warning message. The workaround is to upgrade the ODB file on the HyperWorks ODB upgrade utility before loading the file on HyperLife Weld Certification.

Known Issues

  • The stress combination Tensor Components for FKM unwelded fatigue evaluation is hidden and unavailable for this release.
  • Auto ODB upgrade is unavailable with HyperLife Weld Certification version 2022.1. Currently, you are notified with a warning message. The workaround is to upgrade the ODB file in the HyperWorks ODB upgrade utility before loading the file in HyperLife Weld Certification.
  • While performing FKM static assessment, the tool may become unresponsive. The issue will be fixed in the upcoming release.

Altair HyperLife Weld Certification 2022 Release Notes

New Features

Stress Life (SN) analysis Workflow for Welds
The Stress Life (SN) analysis for welded area is available in HyperLife Weld Certification for Shell (2D) models. The weld detection utility (Mark Welds) is used to identify and organize the weld lines as per the HyperLife Weld Certification workflow. The evaluation points of the welds are available for review in the Points dialog where general properties like evaluation distance and type of material is reviewed and updated. Both Nominal and Hotspot approach are available for user selection. Also, Weld Category can be assigned to different locations together with material allowable properties. With this release, Time Series loading (Variable Amplitude, Constant Amplitude, Block Loading, and Duty Cycle) are supported.
Stress Life (SN) Workflow for Unwelded
The Stress Life (SN) analysis for unwelded area is available in HyperLife Weld Certification for Shell (2D) models. With this release, Time Series loading (Variable Amplitude, Constant Amplitude, Block Loading, and Duty Cycle) are supported.

Enhancements

  • Equivalent Damage calculation formulae for EUROCODE 3 has been updated as per the regulation specifications.
  • Several Graphical User Interface updates are incorporated in this release to be consistent with Standard HyperWorks utility icons.
  • Enhancement to select Top and Bottom layer for Shell models.
  • Rainflow flow output can be disabled under Preferences > Result Options.

Known Issues

  • In the case of skewed elements, there is an issue with stress transformation which causes the stresses to be inaccurate. This issue will be fixed in the upcoming release.
  • In the case of O welds, the location entities are not identified correctly which may lead to missing elements in evaluation. This issue needs thorough investigation and will be fixed in the upcoming release.
  • There is an issue with rotation of the co-ordinate systems yielding no results mostly observed with Abaqus models. This issue will be fixed in the upcoming release.
