# Named Points

Create named points that can be referenced by geometry and requests, similar to variables.

The X coordinate, Y coordinate and Z coordinate of a point can be accessed using a dot followed by the required component.

For example,

`Point1.x`gives access to the X coordinate of named point,`Point1`.Points can also be constructed using the “pt” command.

For example, the expression

`pt(1,1,1)`+`pt(2,1,1)`results in a point definition of`pt(3,2,2)`.The following actions are allowed on points:

- The subtract and add operations are allowed between two points.
- A point may be multiplied or divided by a scalar.
- The distance from the origin to a point is obtained using the
`abs`function.
