Defeature holes / chamfers / fillets of objects
Introduction
The operation of Defeature holes / chamfers / fillets of an object allow to:
- Add matter in cylindrical holes whose diameters are smaller than a maximum diameter entered by the user
- Defeature Chamfer whose distances are smaller than a maximum distance entered by the user
- Defeature fillets whose radius are smaller than a maximum radius entered by the user
Structure of defeature objects
The operation Defeature holes / chamfers / fillets of an object is described by:
- The name of the operation geometric (by default DEFEATURE_1)
- The object to defeature
- To defeature fillets:
- The desired maximum radius below which detected fillets are defeatured
- The maximum angle between supports of fillets (by default: 175°)
- To defeature chamfers:
- The desired maximum length below which detected chamfers are defeatured
- The maximum angle between supports of chamfer (by default: 105°)
- To defeature holes (only cylindrical) :
- The desired maximum diameter below which detected holes are defeatured
- An option of detection of spheres
- (Optional) List of faces to keep during the defeaturing
Each type (fillet, chamfer, hole) has a button which allows unfolding parameters to define an to apply during the defeaturing
Examples
Here are some examples illustrated to show how the user values are taken into account.

Result
The application of a defeaturing of objects has as result:
- A geometric operation DEFEATURE_1. This geometric operation is a specific entity of the modeler that permits to ensure the cycle of life of the construction (creation - modification - deletion).
- A defeatured object
- The operation DEFEATURE_1 has been added in the list of geometric operations linked with the defeatured object.
Possibilities for the user
The user have the following choice:
- The defeaturing of holes / chamfers / fillets of an object may be done in only one geometric operation
- or independently by achieving a defeaturing operation for each type to defeature
Access

Limitations
Somes limitations :
- No preview available at the creation and at the modification
- Applicable only on one object: repeat the operation on each object to defeature
- No cylindrical holes are not detectable, so no defeaturing possible (section square, rectangular, oval…)
