Radiation

Define thermal and solar radiation.

Attention: The icons shown on the ribbon below are used to complete this workflow. Click an icon to learn more about the tool.
Use the Physics tool to turn on thermal radiation physics and define the thermal radiation settings used in the simulation. Use the Surface Finish Library tool to create, delete, and import/export surface finish models. A surface finish definition is an ideal grey-surface emissivity model used in the radiation equation. Use the Surface Finish tool to apply surface finish properties to selected surfaces. Use the External tool to apply external radiation heat transfer to selected surfaces or thin solids. Use the Opening tool to apply radiation boundary conditions at openings. A radiation opening definition provides a method of fully enclosing a fluid domain that is not surrounded by walls. This condition is appropriate for inlet and outlet type boundary surfaces. Use the Output tool to apply radiation output settings to selected surfaces. Use the Defaults tool to define global surface conditions for thermal radiation. Use the Model tool to create, delete, and import/export participating media models. Use the Assign tool to apply participating media properties to selected solids. Solids which are not assigned any participating media model are considered as non-participating. Use the Interface tool to define diffusion properties of interface surfaces across participating media. Use the External Boundary tool to define diffusion and refractive properties of wall surfaces of participating media. Use the Physics tool to define the solar radiation settings used in the simulation. Here you can specify the global parameters for solar radiation heat flux. Use the Model tool to create, delete, and import/export solar radiation models. These models are utilized to calculate the solar heat flux on applied surfaces. Use the Surface tool to apply solar radiation properties to selected surfaces. Solar heat flux is calculated on these surfaces based on the defined solar radiation model.
