Spot and Laser Welds
A spot weld connects two parts over a circular area on the contacting surfaces. A laser weld connects the contacting surfaces over an area created from solids or strip created along a user-drawn line or a polyline.
For spot welds, the spot center is projected onto the contact area in normal to the surface direction, and a circular connection domain is created.
Spot weld fatigue analysis requires weld material assignment. You can pick weld material properties from the SimSolid material database. Otherwise, material properties are automatically taken from the adjacent parts while solving fatigue subcases.
For laser welds, the line is projected onto the contact area in normal to the surface direction, then widened to create the connection domain.
