Options

Set display options such as timestep, frame name, filename, foreground color, and background color.

Note: The Annotation options Timestep, Frame number, Display file name, Location and font settings have been moved to the Notes panel and can be applied to MediaInfo Note.

Background Color

By default, the video window background is black. This window can be set to any color. On printouts, the background is always white.

Blank out tolerance

If Blank out tolerance is selected, the video frame is only displayed if the difference between the time of the current frame and the time of the page is less than the tolerance.

If Blank out tolerance is not selected, the current video frame is always displayed.

Always convert video to MJPEG

If you are loading a video that is not in the supported MediaView video codecs, select this option to use an external video converter included in the standard HyperWorks installation. From the HyperWorks installation folder, change the values in the preference file to select this converter another way.

Note: In Linux-based systems, the video convert option is always active.

Video Enhancements

The following settings can be edited to enhance your video file. Enter a value directly into the data field or use the slider bar to change the value.

Note: Significant processing power is required to perform video enhancement operations such as brightness, contrast, gamma correction, and edge enhancement. Depending on the resolution of your video, you may notice a performance decrease when these enhancements are active. Of the video enhancement operations, Edge Enhancement is the most CPU-intensive and Gamma correction is the least CPU-intensive.

Brightness: Change the brightness of your media file.
Contrast: Adjust the contrast to see the difference between the lightest and darkest parts of the media file.
Gamma: Gamma is the degree of contrast in your media file. Enter a value or drag the slider to set the brightness of mid-tones without affecting highlights and shadows.
Hue: Hue is the separation between color shades and is one of the main properties of a color. It is represented by a number between -180 to +180 in MediaView, which switches the prominent colors in the video.
Saturation: Change the color saturation of your media file to amplify the difference between bright regions and dark regions. Saturation in negative values decreases this difference and moves toward a black and white picture.
Sharpness: Switch the picture sharpness between 0 and 2.
Edge Enhancements: When selected, this option finds and displays the edges in the media file.

Change the Background Color

From the MediaView Options panel, select a color from the Background palette.

The background color of the window displays the selected color.

Change the Tolerance Value

From the MediaView Options panel, select Blank out Tolerance.
Enter a new value in the field.
The video frame is only displayed if the difference between the time of the current frame and the time of the page is less than the tolerance.
The program overrides any invalid entries and resets the value to the default.
