Find and Isolate Specific Geometry Types

When performing cleanup or defining simulation parameters, it can be helpful to first find and isolate certain types of geometry. This will give you a better idea of the areas in the model you need to focus on.

  1. Click the arrow next to the Home tool set, then select Find.
    Figure 1.
  2. Select a geometry type from the guide bar.
  3. Optional: Select specific entities to consider in the modeling window.
If entities are selected, the tool acts upon your selection. If no selection made, it acts upon all displayed entities.
  4. Select a method for filtering the geometry.
  5. If necessary, provide a tolerance value, feature angle, or the like to further filter your selection.
  6. Select what to do with the found geometry.
    • Create group
    • Isolate
    • Select
  7. Click .
Note: Similar find and isolate functions are also available in the context menus for surfaces, solids, and parts. These can be accessed either in idle mode or within another tool.
