Change of application
Introduction
Flux is applied for several domains: magnetic, thermal and electric studies.
In each domain, several applications are possible. For example in magnetic domain Flux proposed static, steady state AC and transient applications.
The user may want to change applications without change the domain, without having to redefine his entire model.
Flux offers an application conversion command that allows the user to switch from one application to another without losing any description of the model made in the initial application (geometry, mesh and physics).
Available changes
Changes of applications are authorized:
- for applications in the same dimension (2D or 3D or Skew).
- for applications in the same domain (magnetic or thermal)
Application changes are not implemented either for electric applications or for coupled applications.

Command access
To access to the application change command, click on the menu Application and then point to Convert Current Application and choose the wished application.
The command appear only if the application of the current project has been defined.
Application change characteristics
After activating the command, a dialog box with the following characteristics to be completed:
- enter the frequency (only for a conversion to a steady state AC magnetic application)
- Choose the mode of save:
- either save under the current name (loss of the initial project)
- or save under another name (to be completed by the user)
Few rules
The main rules are:
- If the region type of the original project exists in the requested application then the conversion is achieved
- For data conversions of complex to real type, the field will be empty, and the user will have to define it
- If the region type of the original project doesn't exist the nit is converted in an INACTIVE region
- The resulting circuit may contain "holes" if the original circuit contains components not existing in the target application. The user must redefine the adapted circuit.
Few limitations
The limitations are:
- Formulas with spatial quantities are not kept, they are set to 0.
- The conversion of sensors are not managed. Please check the formula of parameter using these sensors.
- Coil conductors with « circuit » type are not converted in “imposed current” type for applications without circuit.
- The kinematic type of mechanical sets with move must be redefined and validated
- The magnet orientation are not kept.
Advice
After a conversion, it is advised to:
- Execute a checking of the physics
- Check the definition of regions
