Free Body Diagram (FBD)

Calculate free-body forces, moments, displacements, and rotation.

FBD also consists of a set of tools to:
  • Create and view free-body section forces and moments
  • Show trace plots
  • Generate .fbd files to create potato and VMT plots in HyperGraph 2D
  • Generate reports, loads and fields from free-body forces, moments, displacements and rotations
Restriction: Only available in the Nastran, ANSYS, Abaqus and OptiStruct solvers in the Aerospace user profile.
Note:
  • The result file must have stored nodal forces output. For OptiStruct and Nastran the OUTPUT request is GPFORCES. For Abaqus it is NFORC and for ANSYS it is NLOAD.
  • Before using any of the free-body tools, result files must be imported.
