All of the problems in fluid dynamics are governed by the same standard conservation equations. What makes the solution
of each problem unique is the set of boundary conditions.
Use the Default Wall tool to edit the default properties of unassigned wall surfaces. If you later assigns properties to a surface, it
will be removed from the default domain.
Use the Periodic tool to define boundaries with translational, rotational, and streamwise periodicity. With a periodic condition,
you can represent a larger periodic model by applying settings to just a section.
Use the Periodic: Translation tool to define periodic boundaries with translational periodicity. Translational periodic boundary conditions specify
that the values of all variables on surface pairs are equal.
Use the Periodic: Rotation tool to define periodic boundaries with rotational periodicity. Rotational periodic boundary conditions specify
that the values of all variables on surface pairs are equal.
Use the Periodic: Streamwise tool to define periodic boundaries with translational periodicity and an offset in variables. Streamwise periodic
boundary conditions specify that the values of the second surface set are equal to those of the first surface set
plus a constant value or a ratio.

From the Flow ribbon, click the Periodic > Streamwise tool.
Select source surfaces.
If target surfaces are already selected, updating the source selection will
reset the existing target selection.
Click the Target selector on the guide bar.
Select target surfaces.
You will only be able to select surfaces which can form translational
periodicity with the source selection.
If any of the source surfaces do not
have a compatible target surface, the tool will not allow you to select any
target surfaces.
In the dialog, specify pressure offset and mass flow rate.
Optional: Click the Advanced tab and specify precedence, active
type, and linked surface outputs
The active type determines if the periodicity definition is considered or
not.
From the guide bar, execute the command in the following
ways:
Click to confirm your selection and remain in the
tool.
This allows you to continue creating instances and helps you
visualize and edit instances with the legend.
Click to confirm your selection and exit the
tool.
