# Steady State AC Magnetic: solved equations (scalar model)

## Introduction

The scalar model is a general model proposed for 3D applications.

This model is used by default (automatically) by Flux to solve 3D applications.

## Magneto Static: reminder

As previously presented for Magneto Static applications, various potentials can be introduced to solve the system of equations. Flux 3D has different magnetic formulations using different scalar potentials. There is a formulation and consequently an equation for each region of the problem.

The formulations introduced for the Magneto Static application are:

- formulation in total scalar magnetic potential, ϕ
_{tot}, - formulation in reduced scalar magnetic potential with respect to H
_{j}, ϕ_{redHj} - formulation in reduced scalar magnetic potential with respect to T
_{0}, ϕ_{redTo}

Within the Steady state AC Magnetic application, other formulations are introduced to treat the conducting (magnetic or not) media with possible eddy currents.

These formulations are not described in this document.
