# Assimilation conductor mode: geometrical description

## Introduction

The assimilation conductor mode allows a description of unidirectional and bidirectional conductors.

## General process

The general process of description in assimilation conductor mode is presented in the table below. (The stages are detailed in the following blocks)

## The geometrical descriptor

The assimilation conductors are described with the geometrical descriptor of Flux PEEC.

The geometrical descriptor of Flux PEEC is of boundary type, which means that a volume is described by the bordering faces and a face is described by the contour lines and a line is described by points.

The authorized shapes are as follows:

• for the lines: segments only, no arcs of circle
• for the faces: planar faces only

## Geometry: description

The geometry is created in ascending way: first the points, then the lines, and finally the faces and the volumes.

The main phases in geometrical description of a conductor are presented in the table below.

## Construction of faces and volumes

The construction of faces and volumes can be carried out:

• either in an automatic way (identification and automatic construction)
• or with the tools for propagation/extrusion

Construction by propagation or extrusion allows the construction of new geometric entities on the basis of entity already created. It is used for the construction of structures with symmetries or repetitive patterns.

Construction by propagation or extrusion is carried out using mathematical transformations: translation, rotation, affinity…

## Propagation / Extrusion

As regards the vocabulary, we speak about propagation when the created objects (images) are not connected to the basic objects (sources) and about extrusion when these objects are connected among them by connection elements.
