Compute the distance between two points

To compute the distance between two points in a local coordinate system:

Step Action

Activate the command:

  • in the Geometry menu place the pointer on Measure and click on Compute distance between points
A dialog box Compute … is open.

Fill out the fields:

  • select first and second points (selection of several points is possible)
  • choose a coordinate system

Validate the information:

  • click on OK button
The computation result appears in the output zone.
A dialog box Compute … is automatically opened.

Quit the sequence:

  • click on Cancel button

Compute the coordinates of points

To compute the coordinates of points in the global coordinate system and in a local coordinate system:

Activate the command:

  • in the Geometry menu place the pointer on Measure and click on Compute coordinates of points in a coordinate system
A dialog box Compute … is open.

Fill out the fields:

  • select the points in graphic zone or enter the numbers of points (selection of several points is possible)
  • choose a coordinate system

Validate the information:

  • click on OK button
The computation result appears in the output zone.
A dialog box Compute … is automatically opened.

Quit the sequence:

  • click on Cancel button

Compute lengths of lines / areas of faces

To compute lengths of lines / areas of faces:

Activate the command:

  • in the Geometry menu place the pointer on Measure and click on Compute length of lines / Compute area of faces

A dialog box Compute … is open.

Fill out the fields:

  • select lines/faces (selection of several lines/faces is possible)

Validate the information:

  • click on OK button
The computation result appears in the output zone.

The computation result appears in the output zone as follows:

  • dimensions [X1,X2][Y1,Y2][Z1,Z2]
  • center (x,y,z)
