Volume: about

Volumes

Volumes

  • can be built by Flux:
    • with the aid of automatic construction algorithm (automatic identification and creation)
    • by propagation from existing volumes with the aid of transformation
    • by extrusion from existing faces with the aid of transformation
  • or can be the result of file import

Volumes built by Flux

The volumes built by Flux are the ones defined by the faces of different shapes: planar, cylindrical, conic, toroidal, spherical, helical.

The different available shapes depend on the method of construction and are presented in the table below:

The volumes defined by the following faces could be built …
planar, cylindrical, conical with the aid of automatic construction algorithm using the command Build Volumes
toroidal, spherical, helical
  • by extrusion from existing faces with building option Add Volumes, Faces, Lines and Points
  • by propagation of existing volumes with building option Add Volumes, Faces, Lines and Points

Complementary information on the construction of volumes is given in sections Construction by extrusion, Construction by propagation.

Imported volumes

Information on volumes coming from the NASTRAN, PATRAN, UNV Ideas file importation is given in chapter Data importation: principles.
