Graphic manipulations of the circuit components in the circuit editor context: displacement, rotation
Introduction
With the electric circuit editor several graphic manipulations are possible starting from a selection of components of the circuit:
- Displacement (or copying) of a selection
- Rotation of a selection
Displacement: definition
The displacement (or the copying) of a selection is a translation of the selection.
The component or the selection orientation is not modified.
Displacement mode
The user can displace a selection:
- by maintaining it connected to the electric circuit
- by disconnecting it from the rest of the electric circuit
These two modes of displacement are presented in the table below:
Mode of displacement: | The selection is: |
---|---|
Slide-displace | Connected to the circuit |
Copy-paste | Disconnected from the circuit |
Displacing a selection maintaining it connected
To displace a selection maintaining it connected to the circuit , use the mode slide-displace :
Step | Action |
---|---|
1 | Select the component(s) to displace |
2 |
Slide the selection to a valid location*
|
→ | The selection follows the mouse displacement |
3 |
Place the selection to its location
|
→ |
If the final position chosen is valid, the displacement of the selection has been carried out If the final position chosen is not valid, the selection gets to its initial position |
Displace (or copy) a selection by disconnecting it
To displace (or copy) a selection by disconnecting it from the circuit, use the cut-paste mode (or copy-paste ):
Step | Action |
---|---|
1 | Select the component(s) to displace |
2 |
Click Cut (or Copy) in the Edition menu. Click on icon Cut (or Copy ) |
3 |
Click on Paste in the Edition menu. Click on the Paste icon |
→ | The selection appears and it is mobile by using the cursor |
4 |
Set the selection to a new location
|
→ |
If the final position chosen is valid, the displacement of the selection has been carried out. If the final position chosen is not valid, the selection remains mobile with the cursor and the displacement has not been carried out |
Rotating a selection
To rotate a selection:
Step | Action |
---|---|
1 | Select the component(s) to be rotated |
2 |
Rotate the selection:
or
|
→ |
The selection is disconnected and rotated by 90° After the rotation, if the position of the selection is valid, the selection is automatically placed on the graphic sheet After the rotation, if the position of the selection is not valid, the selection remains mobile by using the cursor and the user must choose a valid location |
