Specify a label and variable name.
By default, variables names of entities in MotionView follow a certain convention. For example, all joint entities have a variable name starting with “j_”. This is the recommended convention to follow when building models in MotionView since it has many advantages in model editing and model manipulation.
- Select the desired joint type from the drop-down menu.
-
Make the joint to allow compliance by activating the
Allow Compliance check box.
Note: A joint, when made compliant, will be treated as a bushing entity and all the properties of the joint will now be the same as the properties of a bushing.
-
Select whether to create a single joint or a joint pair.
When an auto entity pair is added to the model, MotionView automatically reflects the modifications made to the left auto entity of the pair to the right auto entity also, unless you choose otherwise. MotionView assumes bilateral symmetry about the global X-Z plane. However, the Symmetry option menu enables you to reflect modifications from right side to the left (Right -> Left) or not to reflect modifications at all (None).
-
Click OK to close the window or
Apply to continue creating entities.
Once a joint entity has been added to the model, the panel for the joint will be displayed in the panel area.
