Geometry import: strategies

Introduction

Although it is possible and necessary to correct the geometric defects after import, it is preferable to prepare the initial file so that the operations of correction in Flux are minima.

The checking of the geometry and the correction of possible geometric defects are essential.

Prepare the initial file

To prepare the initial file in general way:

  • define the geometric elements in CAD software with respect to the characteristics of the Flux geometry building module
  • remove the intersections of lines, lines and faces, the superposition of faces, …

The characteristics of geometry building module (description: the authorized shapes of faces and volumes, prohibited intersections and superimposed entities, …) are given in chapter Geometry: principles.

Constraints of Flux software

It is not possible to perform the following operations in an imported geometry (containing lines of list edges type and faces of list facets type):

  • modify the imported faces / lines
  • propagate / extrude the imported faces / lines
  • mesh the faces / volumes using mapped mesh generator

Capabilities of Flux software

It is possible to perform the following operations in an imported geometry:

  • build the faces / volumes
  • mesh the faces / volumes using automatic mesh generator
