Magneto-thermal cosimulation: Warnings

Warnings

Given the novelty of this function, a list of warnings is provided:

Mise en garde
1 The geometries of the electromagnetic and thermal problems must be exactly the same, given the fact that the calculus is local
2 For Flux PEEC the previous warning signifies that unidirectional conductors with geometrical tubes definition can't be used in magneto-thermal cosimulations. In fact, their geometrical representation in Flux 3D can't be taken into account.
3 As the exchange of the cosimulation is based on the meshes, the non-meshed coils in 3D and the stranded conductor coils in 2D and 3D are not managed within a cosimulation. Only coils of solid conductor type can be used.
4

In the case where a second or an nth cosimulation is launched in the same project, one must reinitialize:

  • The cosimulation entity
  • And the spatial quantities created

Indeed, those entities comprise the last values of the last cosimulation. For this, the command « reinitializing the cosimulation» and «reset spatial quantity to default value» are available.

5 The name of a data to export a software must be the same as the name of the data to be imported from the other software
6 Iron losses are not taken into consideration in a cosimulation Transient magnetic-Transient thermal (synchronized exchange)
7 In Transient magnetic-Transient thermal the values of a time step of a piece of software scenario must be the multiple of the other. And one must appropriately inform the number of steps between each exchange in the project which has more steps
8 In transient (steady state or not) the solving is done in time and not in position
9 The modification of certain entities is not possible (multipoint support, cosimulation)
10 In Steady state transient magnetic, the solving scenario must be defined with equal time steps (not adaptive).
11

For identical electromagnetic and thermal geometries, the mesh or the difference of geometric accuracy between the two pieces of software can generate points of multipoint supports at the exterior of the considered domain (for example: because of the mesh on arcs). The possible ways of bypassing these issues are as follows:

  • The correction of the mesh (choose a finer mesh)
  • The correction of the geometric precision

Remark: a command "Checking multipoint support location” allows the generation of the list of the coordinates list of the points outside the considered region.
