Faults

Use Faults tool to intersect components classified as Faults and Horizons.

Faults are generally interpreted separately from other geo-bodies and commonly have a different, disconnected, discretization. A key geo- model building step is connecting these fault(s) to the rest of the domain in a geologically reasonably and consistent way. Until now the process of finding, resolving, honoring and, often, stitching the numerous intersections between fault(s) and other geo-features necessary to achieve this was long and laborious. GeoD-Pre simplifies and automates many of the procedures required whilst allowing complete user control of all aspects of the process. There could be intersections between faults-horizons, and/or between two faults. Using the Faults tool, you can fix such intersection issues.

Fault and horizons are intersecting without mesh interaction
  • After the process, the fault and horizon mesh are intersected and nodes are equivalenced;
  • Intersecting fault is split into two components under same part.
From GeoD ribbon, Fix group, select Faults.
