Part Properties

All of the properties of a part can be directly accessed through the Property Editor.

Some of the important properties of parts are listed below:
Name A part name can be any text string, including spaces, although it's best to avoid using the following characters: " ' * ? and $. While these characters are allowed, they could create difficulties when you export the model to other applications.
Material Every part in the model has a material assigned to it. The default material is steel, but a different material can be assigned by right-clicking the part and choosing Material from the context menu.
Design Space Indicates whether the part is a design space. A part must be designated as a design space if you intend to optimize it.
Ground Indicates whether the part is grounded.
Mass Properties Mass properties are visible only if Mass Calculation is set to On in the preferences. Autocalculate Mass indicates whether the mass value is automatically calculated based upon volume and material density.
Visible Indicates whether the selected object is visible in the modeling window. You can show and hide a part in the modeling window by clicking its icon in the Model Browser or by using the Visible property. When a part is hidden, its icon in the Model Browser is dimmed.
Color Indicates the color assigned to the object when it is displayed in the modeling window. The default color for parts is gray, but a different color can be assigned by right-clicking the part and choosing Color from the context menu.
Transparency Allows you to change the transparency of the selected object, according to a percentage. By default, objects are 0% transparent.
Detect Collisions Indicates whether collision detection, which prevents parts in the model from overlapping, has been enabled for the selected part.
Movable Indicates whether the selected part can be translated in the modeling window or has been locked in place.
Mesh Properties Autocalculate Element Size indicates whether the minimum and average element sizes used for the solution are automatically calculated. Deselect to enter these values manually. Decreasing the minimum element size will increase the detail of your results in areas that use a number of small elements. The average element size controls the overall detail of your results.
Optimization Properties Autocalculate Thickness indicates whether the minimum and maximum thickness values are automatically calculated. All of the model's parts are taken into account during the calculation. Deselect to enter these values manually. The minimum gap property allows you to define the minimum distance between structural members for topology optimization.
Mass Moment of Inertia Autocalculate Moment of Inertia indicates whether the mass moment of inertia is automatically calculated. Deselect to enter the component values manually.
