Offset

Create an offset object from one or more surfaces at a specified distance from the source object(s).

  1. On the ribbon, click the Modify tab.
  2. Click the Offset icon.

  3. Click the object.
  4. To define the offset distance, in the guide bar, enter a Global offset.
  5. Optional: To invert the offset, in the guide bar, click the Invert icon.
  6. Optional: To make a symmetric offset on each side of the object, in the guide bar, click the Symmetric icon.
  7. Optional: To smooth sharp convex edges, in the guide bar, click Rounded corners.
    Note: Concave vertices are not rounded.
  8. Optional: If the source object was a surface, to create a closed 3D object, in the guide bar, click Thickening.
    Note: If the source object was a solid, this option offsets the faces of the source object.
  9. Optional: If the source object was a solid, to set a custom offset to a face or multiple faces, in the guide bar, click Custom Mode, and then do the following:
    • Tangent and single selection.
    • Click a face, and then enter a Custom value for the offset.
      Tip: To select multiple faces, hold down Ctrl while clicking.
    • Select all custom faces with same value.
    • To invert a face, click a face, and then click the Invert icon.
    • To reset a custom face, click the face, and then click Custom face(s).
    • To reset all changes, in the guide bar, click Reset to Global Thickness.
  10. Right-click and mouse through the check mark to exit, or double-right-click.
