Browsers supply a great deal of view-related functionality by listing the parts of a model in a tabular and/or tree-based
format, and providing controls inside the table that allow you to alter the display of model parts.
Use the Extract tool to convert sketches into geometry lines and surfaces with the realize option. Delete lines and
surfaces converted from a sketch entity with the unrealize option.
FE geometry is topology on top of mesh, meaning CAD and mesh exist as a single entity. The purpose of FE geometry
is to add vertices, edges, surfaces, and solids on FE models which have no CAD geometry.
Tools and workflows that are dedicated to rapidly creating new parts for specific use cases, or amending existing
parts. The current capabilities are focused on stiffening parts.
Use the Boolean tool to combine solids, subtract one
solid from another, detach solids, and find the intersection out of
the solids.
Note: FE geometry is not supported for these tools.
Use Parasolid
When you click the Boolean tool, you will have the option to either keep the common
interface or to use Parasolid.
This option is added to allow you to use the Parasolid geometric kernel for
performing boolean operations like combine, subtract, and intersect.
Key Differences
Here are some key differences between using classic and parasolid geometry.
When complex geometries are submitted for this operation, using the parasolid option
can return with partial success creating regions of the failure areas in the
Model Browser. The following image shows a few similar
regions as an example.
You can review problem areas and either fix or isolate them by trimming solids so
that the remaining solids can be successfully processed for the boolean
operation.
If the selected solid has a common interface to another solid that is not selected,
that solid is not considered using the parasolid option. For the classic geometry
engine the solid that interfaces with other unselected solids is still considered in
the boolean operation.
In the following example, the selected solid has a common interface to another solid
that is not selected. That solid is not considered using the parasolid option and
the common interface is removed by detaching these solids. For the classic geometry
engine, the solid that interfaces with the other solid, though not selected, is
still considered for the boolean operation.
Combine Solids
Use the Boolean: Combine tool to connect two or more solids together, retaining all of the material in both.
Subtract Solids
Use the Boolean: Subtract tool to carve out one set of solids from another set of solids.
Intersect Solids
Use the Boolean: Intersect tool to retain only the intersecting portions of two sets of solids.
Detach Solids
Use the Boolean: Detach tool to separate selected solids from neighboring solids that share one or more common faces.
