Create Generic Structural Elements

Use the Generic tool to collect elements and free body sections in designpoints.

  1. From the Certification ribbon, click the Generic tool.

    Figure 1.
  2. Select elements or freebody sections to collect.
You can select any combination of elements and they will be collected into a single designpoint.

If you select multiple freebody sections, a designpoint is created for each.

On the guide bar, click to select a Split by option. In the case of a Generic structural element, the split is directly done on the element selected. The designpoint is created based on the element’s property or component if split is used.

  3. Optional: Select a destination DesignPointSet to hold newly created designpoints.
If no set is selected, a new one is created with config Generic.

If you enter this menu from the Certification Browser context menu using Auto DDP, the selector is pre-populated with the selected designpointset.

  4. Specify a structuralproperty entity to assign.
  5. On the guide bar, click one of the following:
    • - Save changes and stay in the tool.
    • - Save changes and close the tool.
