Results Curves Panel

Use the Results Curves panel to create curves by extracting data from an Engineering Solutions binary results file.

Location: Post page > XY Plots panel

The functionality of the Results Curves panel is useful after running a model because it allows you to display the data in a two-dimensional format as an xy plot. Once the curve is created, you can integrate the curve and inspect points.

The Along Nodes and Position subpanels enable you to create a contour plot of the model and then select nodes along a path or select nodes that are then used in the order in which they occur along a specified axis.

Results Subpanel

The entities you select for this function must be currently displayed. If you try to include non-complex data on a plot created for real/imag or phase/mag plots, the error message, Scalar data cannot be added to a complex plot. is displayed.
Option Action
plot = / create new plot
plot=
Click plot= to select an existing plot in which you want to display the new curve.
create new plot
Create a new plot and assign it a default title.
Change the name of the new plot using the Rename panel.
x data type = Click x data type = and select the type of data that should appear on the x axis.

If the data is in vector format, you can extract the components or the magnitude of the vector. Click the switch after x data type = to change the data that is extracted from the database.

y data type = Click y data type = and select the type of data that should appear on the y axis.

If the data is in vector format, you can extract the components or the magnitude of the vector. Click the switch after y data type = to change the data that is extracted from the database.

nodes/elems Choose the data type (nodes or elems), then select which nodes or elements you want to include on the curve.
start with = Select the first simulation to be used.
end with = Select the last simulation to be used.

simulation = Click simulation= to select the simulation to be used in the calculation of the contour.
data type = Click data type= to select the data type to be used in the calculation of the contour.
multiplier = Specify a value by which to multiply the data, if you need to enhance or minimize the visible differences between data points.
total disp / x comp / y comp / z comp
total disp (default)
Use the total displacement of the node as the value in the assignment, if displacements are being used to calculate the assignments.
x comp, y comp, z comp
Use a component of displacement.
node list Select the nodes that you want included in the curve calculation.

If node list is active after you have selected the nodes, the nodes are highlighted in the sequence in which they were selected.
