Field Contents SI Unit Example
DMGINIID Damage initiation identification number.

No default (Integer > 0)

CRI Damage initiation criteria.
MAXE
Damage is initiated when the strain in any direction reaches the corresponding maximum value.
MAXS
Damage is initiated when the stress/traction in any direction reaches the corresponding maximum value.
QUADE
Damage is initiated based on quadratic form of strain.
QUADS
Damage initiated based on quadratic form of stress/traction.
DUCTLE
Ductile damage initiation. 3

No default (Real)

LODE Valid only for CRI=DUCTILE.

Flag to activate load parameter dependence for ductile damage initiation.

Default = blank

FLAT Valid only for CRI=DUCTILE.

Specifies the handling method for y-values outside the specified range of x-values.

0 (Default)
If an x-value input is outside the range of x-values specified, the corresponding y-value look up is performed using linear extrapolation from the two start or two end points.
FLAT 1
If an x-value input is outside the range of x-values specified, the corresponding y-value is equal to the start or end points, respectively.

Y_#, X#_i, X#_j, X#_k The maximum value of strain or stress/traction depending on damage initiation type.

No default (Real > 0.0)

Comments

  1. The material identification number should be unique for all MAT1, MAT2, MAT3, MAT8, MAT9, MGASK, MCOHE, MCOHED, DMGINI, and DMGEVO entries.
  2. Analysis support information for the criteria are:
    Analysis Types Criterion
Nonlinear Static Analysis, Nonlinear Transient Analysis MAXE, MAXS, QUADE, QUADS
    Explicit Dynamic Analysis DUCTILE
  3. When the DUCTILE damage initiation criterion is used, the parameters are used:
    LODE flag Y_# X#_i X#_j X#_k
Specified Plastic Strain at failure Stress triaxiality Lode parameter Strain rate
Blank Plastic Strain at failure Stress triaxiality Strain rate
