Bulk Data Entry Applies to Global-Local Modeling. Expanding the interpolation patch results in a smoother solution near the cut surface.

Parameter Values Description
GLOBEXPT <0, 1> If patch expansion is not allowed, local stress hot spots near the cut surface may occur. However, local model solution away from the cut surface will not be visually affected.
0
Do Not Expand Path: Only 1 nearest element is used for each grid in the cut surface.
1 (Default)
Expand Patch: The closest N elements are used for interpolation results, where N is 6 for shell elements, and 8 for solid elements, near the cut surface grid location in the global model.

Comments

  1. Disabling patch expansion is recommended when cut surface contains disconnected elements in near proximity (for example, two parallel thin structures).
